The Democrats face oblivion if they don’t shake off the current dominance by socialist extremists
Southport, North Carolina – Trump’s triumph – he won the popular vote, the senate, (and unless there is some last-minute fix going on during this interminable count in California) and the all-important House of Representatives – has existential lessons for the media and the Democrat Party.
The conventional wisdom called for a nail-biting, too-close-to-call contest. As I predicted in my pre-election blog, floating voters, confronted with the obvious (to normal people not the Democrat hierarchy) unsuitability of Kamala Harris to high office moved in droves to president-elect Donald Trump. That cemented a new coalition on the right of the U.S. comprising the working section of the population and across all races.
This is less surprising when you consider some of the important issues at the election. Number 1 was illegal immigration. Biden/Harris had actually encouraged this invasion of the country from the South, seeing a long-term political gain from potential new, poor voters in love with free stuff. Then there was “the economy, stupid”. The answer to Ronald Reagan’s famous question “are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?”, had one, clear answer. And other less obvious Biden policy, inherited from his Obama days. The insane sucking up to Iran had not only failed miserably, but the removal of sanctions provided huge sums, much of which went to finance Hamas and Hezbollah’s campaign to kill all Israelis and wipe the country off the face of the earth. Biden’s Democrats apparently couldn’t connect these dots.
Hitler, fascist, threat to democracy
Most of the mainstream media emerged from the contest looking worn-out and hopelessly biased. Despite swamping readers and viewers for years with baseless insults like “Hitler” and “fascist”, “threat to democracy” about Trump for years, it seems nobody was paying attention. This feebleness can’t be good for advertising revenue. The Democrats face oblivion too if they don’t shake off the current dominance by socialist extremists. But how hard can it be to realize normal people don’t want their daughters in changing rooms with men pretending to be women. Stopping teachers trying to force perverted mental and physical stupidities on children should be an easy call too. Cheap energy requires continued access to oil and gas, so the extreme climate change agenda needs to go too. Luckily that will have no noticeable impact on the climate.
And surely Trump’s total control of the levers of power should allow him to expunge for good the outrage that is “lawfare”
Trump cruised by all these attacks with ease, despite being outspent more than two to one after Democrat candidate Kamala Harris milked technology billionaires and Hollywood. None of the latter will retain much credibility now after their standard, predictable lefty views were clearly of no interest to normal Americans.
The mainstream media distorted his speeches and mounted a relentless campaign to bring him down. There were some honorable exceptions, including Fox News, the New York Post, and much of the conservative radio network. It’s worth pointing out that the mainstream media, including the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, are theoretically committed to balanced and fair reporting. I’m afraid my alma mater Reuters also fell into the world of woke.
Media distortions
My favorite porky? Trump some years back said in a speech about uncontrolled immigration that House members of the Squad should return to their home nations, and report back on how uncivilized conditions there compared with America’s civilized ways. The mainstream media then proceeded to shamelessly drop the last part of the quote and report relentlessly that Trump had sought to banish them whence they came. This was repeated all around the world not only by lefty media, but all the superficial lazy ones too. That was just about all of them.
(The Squad then composed of four Democrat members elected to the House in 2018, namely the extreme leftists Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib (Michigan).
The Democrat party led by Hillary Clinton concocted a bizarre report during the 2016 campaign which Trump won claiming he had colluded in some way with Russia and his behavior during a trip there had compromised him. This was comprehensively shot down but Democrats continue even now to pretend that it was true. There was the censorship exerted by social media kerzillionaires to stifle news around the Hunter Biden laptop. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter held back stories on the laptop and other controversies. It helped to have corrupt security “experts’ like the 51 “spies that lie” who signed a letter claiming the laptop was a Russian construction. Prominent spies that lied included former CIA director John Brennan, James R. Clapper Jr., the former director of national intelligence, and Leon Panetta, former Secretary of Defense. Let’s hope Trump will investigate these corrupt liars who deserve time in chokey for that.
Lawfare. Nothing less than an affront to democracy and must be stopped
The Biden administration also launched a so-called “lawfare” campaign to derail Trump by concocting cases against him which would not only generate false convictions, but cost the campaign millions of dollars to fight, while keeping Trump in court and away from the campaign trail. This is hard to explain to the British who believe in the rule of law and its independence. But the U.S. justice system is tainted by politics. Many of its District Attorneys are voted in, and corrupt ones are often financed by George Soros. They can manipulate the Grand Jury system to concoct crimes against other politicians they fear. These false convictions are more often than not rejected by superior courts where judges are more experienced and not corruptible, but often political or business careers are already ruined. This is nothing less than an affront to democracy and must be stopped.
And then there was the Kamala Harris campaign, described as pretty much perfect by the nutcases on MSNBC after the event. It’s all down to racism and misogyny to them. Harris was a last-minute winner of the Democrat presidential nomination, after Joe Biden was hooked after his flailing debate performance with Trump. The Democrats didn’t have time for another primary, and reckoned a competitive convention might not lead to the required candidate (one that could be controlled by Obama/Clinton/Pelosi) so Harris got the nod. This was greeted with hysterical applause by the convention and the compliant media. It didn’t take long to discover she was a complete dud. Unable to think on her feet, she was fed lines to take during rare, short outings in front of the media. The campaign became known as the “no comment” campaign.
A typical outing in front of the media went like this.
“What do you think about proposition 36”. In the California election proposition 36 wanted overturn a previous edict which had led to rampaging gangs of shoplifting thugs because it was decided no prosecutions would take place if the value of goods was under $1,000.
“I’ve voted by mail,” Harris said, but refused to say which way. Everybody of course assumed she’d voted against. With the voting tally not yet complete (can you believe California’s incompetence) around 70% have voted in favor.
What now for Trump?
Expect a rapid increase in defense sending to fill the gap left by Biden. The Biden/Obama cuckolding of Iran will come to a quick end. Israel will likely get the go-ahead to attack Iran’s nuclear programme and oil facilities. This will mean the funds behind Hamas and Hezbollah will quickly dry up. The Abraham Accords will click in and peace and hope will return to the middle east. China won’t dare to invade Taiwan. Putin will be persuaded to withdraw his troops from Ukraine and pay reparations for the carnage he has willfully unleashed. “Not one inch of Ukraine will be retained by Putin. Every damaged building will be repaired by Russia. Every innocent death will incur compensation. Ukraine will gain membership of the EU and NATO”. I must admit that my Ukraine thoughts are a wish list.
Rejoice. Rejoice.
U.S. energy policy will return to the real world. Yes, research on ways to replace fossil fuels will accelerate, but policies which lead to the impoverishment of Americans will not be allowed. Tariffs? Expect Trump to defend the American electric car business until it can meet competition. Don’t expect a tariff policy which enfeebles U.S. profit making abroad. Expect Elon Musk to slash and burn his way through the bloated U.S. government bureaucracy.
My reaction to Trump’s win? I’m reminded of Margaret Thatcher’s reaction to a win in the Falklands War. “Rejoice. Rejoice”.
